Governors Challenge Congress to Help Entertainment Industry

Governors want film and TV production incentives included in JOBS Act

With Congress still deciding what provisions will be included in the Jumpstart Our Business Strength Act (HR 4520), governors from four key production states have demanded that a clause intended to encourage the growth of domestic film and TV production be included in the final version of the bill.

After the House of Representative voted along strict party lines, 251-178, to approve a version of the bill that does not include tax incentives for production work that is done in the United States, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, New York Gov. George Pataki Florida, Gov. Jeb Bush and Texas Gov. Rick Perry urged the House to get the provision back into the bill before it is signed into law.

The legislation is currently in conference committee where both chambers of Congress will iron out the differences in their bills.
