Henning, Stiefel Appointed to Key Positions in CaliforniaPatrick Henning has been named director of the California Employment Development Department and Frank Stiefel has been appointed to the California Film Commission. Henning, 58, of Sacramento has been active in labor issues for 34 years, working as a labor policy consultant to the California Legislature and as a union representative. He most recently served as the staff director for the state Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee. Henning is the son of labor leader John F. "Jack" Henning, who served as undersecretary of labor to President Kennedy and as secretary-treasurer of the California AFL-CIO. The EDD is a part of the Labor and Workforce Development Agency. The director's position pays $123,255 a year and requires Senate approval. Stiefel, 57, of Santa Monica, has been appointed to the California Film Commission. He has been an active member of the television commercial production industry for more than 25 years as the owner of Stiefel and Co., a Santa Monica-based commercial production company and most recently as the executive producer of @Radical Media. Stiefel has produced thousands of commercials throughout his career and a number of award-winning films. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Stiefel is a Democrat.
