Dear Arizona Working Families e-Activist:
 Bills currently in the Arizona state legislature would silence the voices
of working families in politics. This legislation (H.B. 2535) places
unfair and burdensome new accounting and reporting requirements on unions
that will make it much harder for working people to make their voices
heard by elected officials.
Big corporations are trying to use this legislation to hurt working families
and limit our ability to fight for good jobs, overtime pay and more.
It is urgent that you send a message to your members of the state House
and urge them to oppose this legislation. Click this link:

This legislation to silence Arizona’s working families singles
out union members and their unions while completely ignoring corporations--who
spend a whole lot more on lobbying and politics than we do, and other
nonprofit groups that engage in political activities and lobbying. There's
no reason for these new requirements--there have not been any problems
with the current law. This is just one more attempt to hurt working families
and weaken unions.
Similar laws have been thrown out in other states because they limit
the rights of working people in politics. If this legislation becomes
law, it will be held up in court for years, costing taxpayers hundreds
of thousands of dollars when our state can’t even afford quality
education and health care.
