Timothy Magee, 2nd IATSE VP, Appointed to Michigan Film Advisory Commission
Timothy F. Magee, Second Vice President of the International Alliance
of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), was appointed to the Michigan
Film Advisory Commission on March 27 by the state's Governor, Jennifer
M. Granholm, to represent film, television, or related industry unions
on the commission.
The Michigan Film Advisory Commission assists the Michigan Film Office
in promoting the state’s film, television and video production
industries and attracting media business to Michigan. It also has the
responsibility of advising the Governor, the Department of History, Arts
and Libraries, the Michigan Film Office, and the Legislature on how to
promote and market Michigan locations, facilities, crews, talent and
related services.
International Vice President Magee has served as member of the IATSE
General Executive Board since 1995. A member of the stage local in Detroit
since 1981, IATSE Local 38, he was elected Vice President of his local
in 1986 before serving as his local's Business Agent from 1988 to 2000.
Still serving as Business Agent of IATSE Local 38, Mr. Magee was elected
Business Agent of IATSE Local 812, the Studio Mechanics, in 1995 and
currently holds the position of President with that local.
Governor Granholm continues to urge the Michigan Senate to pass a package
of bills that would provide tax benefits to motion picture production
companies that choose to shoot their films in Michigan. The Michigan
House of Representatives unanimously passed the bills last year
